1. Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa of Uruguay will make an official visit to the Republic of Korea from November 13 to 16 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se.

° During his visit to the ROK, Minister Novoa will hold a meeting with Minister Yun and with Korean entrepreneurs and visit the inter-Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ).

2. On November 15, Minister Yun will hold a meeting and a working dinner with Minister Novoa to exchange views on matters of mutual concern, including ways to advance the bilateral relations, and to work together on economy, trade and North Korean issues as well as at such international organizations as the UN and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).

° On the heels of their meeting, the two top diplomats will sign a customs mutual assistance agreement as an institutional framework for cooperation between the customs agencies of the two countries.

3. Minister Nin Novoa’s visit to the ROK is expected to serve as an opportunity to discuss in depth with Uruguay, a current, non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, ways to work with the international community in pressuring North Korea as well as on the ROK-Mercosur (Common Market of the South) trade agreement.
